Chinese Holiday Schedule for 2008
Jan 1, 2008: U.S.A. New Year's Day (Consulate & CCAA closed)
Feb 6, 7, 8: Chinese Lunar New Year (Consulate is closed February
6-8; CCAA is open the weekend of February 2-3 and closed February 6-8 and
February 11-13)
April 4: Qing Ming Festival (China's Tradition in Worship of
Ancestors)
April 14-30: Spring Trade Fair in Guangzhou (hotel and tourism
prices triple in Guangzhou during this time)
May 1: Labor Day (cut from 7 days to one day)
June 9: Dragonboat Festival (Chinese tradition to worship one of the
ancient hears (Qu Yuan).
Sept 15: Mid-Autumn Festival (Lantern Festival)
(Chinese tradition to celebrate the harvest from the land, similar to
Thanksgiving).
Oct 1, 2, 3: Chinese National Holiday (Consulate, Civil Affairs, &
CCAA are closed October 1-3 and October 6-7; however, they will be open
during the weekend before the holiday)*
October 14-30: Autumn Trade Fair in Guangzhou (hotel and
tourism prices triple in Guangzhou during this time)*
*October has the fewest number of traveling adoptive families due to the
Chinese National Holiday and the Trade Fair.
