Shared Agency Waiting Child Program - China
Updated 4/14/2008
Before inquiring about a child on the SHARED AGENCY SPECIAL NEEDS LIST,
please read the following carefully:
It is
extremely important for each family to understand that any child on the
shared agency list is not "their" child until they have been through the
selection process (details of the selection process are stated in the Shared
Waiting Child Agreement) and have been officially chosen by the selection
committee. Since the selection committee relies on prayer as well as
discussion in making their decision, we urge each family to pray for God's
guidance and wisdom in considering a special needs child.
1. Read the
Shared Waiting Child Agreement
thoroughly, sign, date, and fax or email to HFC (fax no. 770-391-1566). This
agreement directly applies to the shared agency list.
Then email
Aisha Cooper to let her know
of the specific child’s medical file that you would like to review. Since
this the shared agency list, only one family can review a child’s file at a
time. The inquiring family will have 48 hours to review the medical file and
submit an online Letter of Intent (LOI) to HFC for the CCAA. During
this time, the child is not available for review by others. HFC must
have the online LOI from the family at least one hour before the 48 hours
expire. If an online LOI is not submitted within this timeframe, the
child will be taken off hold and made available to other agencies and
families for review. The timeframe given for reviewing a child on the shared
agency list has been issued by the CCAA and is non-negotiable.
2. Once a
child has been placed on hold and after Aisha receives the signed Shared
Waiting Child Agreement, she will email the child’s medical information and
pictures to the inquiring family.
3. Within
the 48-hour review period, the family is required to notify HFC of their
desire to proceed with adopting the child in question through an online
Letter of Intent (LOI). Aisha will forward the website link to the
online LOI to the family once they notify her of their intention to proceed.
The family will also need to submit an insurance statement (see #3 of Shared
Waiting Child Agreement for details); however, this can be done after the
online LOI has been forwarded to HFC.
4. HOPE
for Children Waiting Child Committee will meet to discuss the family and
review the information submitted in the LOI. WC Committee will notify
the family of their final decision as quickly as possible.
5. HFC
submits the online LOI for the family to the CCAA via email. This step
will then “lock” the child, thus placing the child on hold to wait for
Pre-Approval from the CCAA. At this time, the child is no longer
available for review by others.
6. CCAA
notifies HFC of Pre-Approval via email. There is no timeframe given
for this step.
7. If a
dossier has not yet been submitted by the family, they must complete and
submit their dossier through HFC within three (3) months of Pre-Approval.
This is a requirement of the CCAA.
